It was nice to get an e-mail the other day from Sara Upchurch at Intergraph - the first edition of what she says will be a monthly newsletter called “Analyst e-Link.” The newsletter has four sections: Business Update, Recent News, Upcoming Events, and Briefing Request. Vendors in other spaces, especially the largest ones, send such updates geared toward analysts and they are useful. It’s helpful to have all of the information in one place to reference later.

Of course, other geospatial vendors have useful e-mail newsletters. MapInfo’s eNews industry news has separate focused editions for insurance and retail, for example. ESRI puts together ArcWatch that is loaded with information about events and announcements. This sort of outreach complements the Web sites. While there aren’t many of us covering geospatial, it will be growing and such outreach is welcome.
